Ya’ll, I’m concerned about Kanye. Make that koncerned with a K.
Following the death of his mother, Donda West, we, the world, have watched, witnessed and critiqued the unraveling of Kanye West.
From his music, to fashion, to artwork, we can say that Kanye is a creative genius. He’s innovative, yet hyper conscious and critical of the world around him. I have enjoyed his albums, particularly 808s and Heartbreak, which was a ground breaking album in the world of hip hop fusing funk, jazz, and the blues for our listening pleasure. However, behind those lyrics was pain. Much of Kanye’s music has lain behind it.
We too experience a similar pain when we loose the ones we love, drop out of school, get into life threatening accidents, and heartbreaks that we can’t seem to get past.
But specifically for Kanye we have witnessed a man who is trying to put the pieces of his life back together yet somehow is failing as he is in there public eye. After all, he is married to a Kardashian, which beckons a life full fame, attention, and criticism.
I don’t doubt that he loves his wife or his children, but some of his behavior should have us concerned.
Kanye is struggling with mental health issues. Let’s just call it what it is and make it plain. Let’s not make excuses for him, but rather lift him up.
Mental health is not something that we should take lightly, but yet a topic that we should approach with grace
